What it is used for

Trimetazidine is used in adults with stable angina, the chest pain that happens when the heart muscle does not get enough blood during effort. It is added to other angina medicines when they do not control symptoms well enough or cannot be tolerated. It is no longer recommended for dizziness, ringing in the ears or eyesight problems.

How it works

Trimetazidine helps heart muscle cells use oxygen more efficiently by shifting how they produce energy. This helps protect the heart when its blood supply is reduced.
