What it is used for
Naproxen relieves pain, swelling and stiffness. It is used for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and gout attacks, as well as muscle and joint injuries, back pain, period pain and some headaches. The gel is applied to the skin over painful muscles or joints.
How it works
Naproxen blocks the COX enzymes that make prostaglandins, substances involved in pain, inflammation and fever. Its effect lasts longer than that of some other painkillers.
