What it is used for

Clopidogrel is used to lower the risk of heart attack and stroke in people who have had a heart attack, an ischaemic stroke, or who have narrowed arteries in the legs (peripheral arterial disease). It is often used together with aspirin after a heart attack, unstable angina, or after a stent is placed in a heart artery. It helps keep blood flowing through the arteries and the stent.

How it works

Clopidogrel stops platelets, the small blood cells that help blood to clot, from sticking together. This makes it less likely that a harmful clot will form inside an artery.
