What it is used for
Ambroxol is used to loosen thick, sticky mucus (phlegm) in chest conditions such as acute and chronic bronchitis, making it easier to cough up. It is meant for productive coughs, where phlegm is being brought up. It does not treat the infection or condition that is causing the cough.
