What it is used for

Ceftibuten is an antibiotic taken by mouth for some bacterial infections. It is used for flare-ups of chronic bronchitis caused by bacteria, middle ear infections and throat infections such as tonsillitis. In some countries it is also used for urinary tract infections and sinus infections. It does not work against viral infections such as colds or flu.

Ceftibuten stops bacteria from building their cell walls, so the bacteria break down and die.
