What it is used for
Povidone-iodine is an antiseptic used to help prevent infection in minor cuts, grazes and small burns, and to clean the skin before injections and surgery. Surgeons and health workers use the scrub form to disinfect their hands. The mouthwash is used as a gargle for mouth and throat infections and ulcers, the eye solution is used by eye doctors, and the vaginal gel is used for some vaginal infections.
