What it is used for

This combination is used to prevent and treat iron deficiency anaemia, especially when other vitamins may also be low. Doctors commonly suggest it during pregnancy and breastfeeding, after blood loss or illness, for heavy periods and when diet is poor. It is a supplement and does not replace treatment for the cause of anaemia.

How it works

Iron is used to make haemoglobin, and folic acid and other B vitamins help the body make healthy red blood cells. Vitamin C helps the gut absorb iron from the capsule and from food.

Common side effects
