This package is a detailed routine health check designed for women. How to prepare

Fasting: Needed; you are told how long to fast when you book, and plain water is fine.

Fasting is needed before the first blood sample; you are told how long to fast when you book, and plain water is fine. After that sample, eat your usual breakfast and note when you start, as the second sugar sample is taken two hours later. Collect the first morning urine and a small fresh stool sample in the containers provided. Keep taking your usual medicines unless your doctor says otherwise, and mention any biotin supplement.

How it works: The collector takes a fasting blood sample from a vein in your arm and collects your urine and stool containers. A second blood draw for the after-breakfast sugar is taken at the time agreed when you book, and each draw takes a few minutes. If you are having your period, tell the collector, as it can affect the urine result.

What the results can mean

Looking at many tests together helps your doctor spot links, for example anaemia alongside a raised ESR, or high sugar alongside high cholesterol. Common findings include anaemia, thyroid changes and raised sugar or cholesterol, each with its own follow-up. One value slightly outside the range is often not significant. Your doctor will interpret the full report and advise on anything that needs attention.

Why is blood sugar tested twice in this check-up?

The fasting sample shows your baseline sugar, and the sample two hours after breakfast shows how your body copes with food. Some people have a normal fasting sugar but a high after-meal result, which can be an early sign of diabetes.

Why is thyroid function included for women?

Thyroid problems are several times more common in women than in men and can cause tiredness, weight change, low mood and changes to periods. TSH and free T4 together show whether the thyroid is underactive or overactive.

What does a routine stool examination look for?

It checks a stool sample for signs of worms or other parasites, undigested food and pus cells, which can point to infection or other gut problems.

Does this check-up include cancer screening?

No. Screening for breast and cervical cancer uses other tests, such as a mammogram and a cervical screening test. Ask your doctor which screening suits your age.
