What it is used for
Terbinafine treats fungal infections of the skin and nails. Tablets are used for fungal nail infections and for ringworm of the body, groin or feet that is widespread or has not cleared with creams, and a sachet form is used for scalp ringworm in children. The cream and spray treat athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm and pityriasis versicolor on the skin.
How it works
Terbinafine blocks an enzyme that fungi need to make their cell membranes. This kills many of the fungi that infect skin, hair and nails.
